To play YouTube in background on iOS you should use your browser, because this trick does not work on official YouTube app. Open your browser and go to YouTube. Search for your video and play it.
once it starts playing, press home key. After this, to play audio from your YouTube video, swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone to get below screen.
Here you will notice a play button and your YouTube video name. Click on play button to start playing your video's audio. After this you can do your other work and audio will continue to play. This is one of the small trick that you can try.
